Woodbridge Junior School

Happy Children Inspired to Learn

English

In English this term we will be focusing on reading Fairy tales, analysing them to identify genre features and using these skills to write our own Fairy tale ending based on the story of Goldilocks and the three bears. Towards the end of the term, we will be exploring performance poetry. This will involve looking at a variety of different pieces of poetry, analysing these to develop our understanding of poetry and how to perform to an audience.

In our reading comprehension lessons we will be reading the text ‘Cheeseburger’ by Shelia Lavelle, focusing on skills which enable us to sequence events and interpret meaning. It is really important that we encourage all children to read a variety of texts both in school and at home. Support from home is really crucial in helping the children develop the reading skills they will be developing this term so please encourage your children to read.
