Woodbridge Junior School

Happy Children Inspired to Learn

Maths

Maths at Woodbridge Junior School follows the Maths No Problem Textbooks – This term we are focusing on developing our understanding of length, mass and volume. During the term the children will focus on length, measuring different items using centimetres, metres and kilometres. We will also be able to convert different units of measurement as well as compare different lengths. Later in the term we will be learning about mass, measuring mass using scales. Pupils look at different units to measure mass, specifically grams and kilograms. They will become well-versed in reading weighing scales that have different values for each marking. Once these skills are achieved, pupils will attempt basic word problems which will extend to more challenging word problems.

Some of the methods taught during these sessions may be different to the way you were taught Maths at school so if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to speak to a member of the year 3 team – Mrs Bates, Mrs Mepstead or Mrs Gratton.
