Happy Children Inspired to Learn

Autumn 1

We love Forest Schools!

We are so lucky to have a wonderful Forest School area, and we love using it.

Cromford Mill Trip

We had a great day at Cromford Mill, learning about Richard Arkwright and the Industrial Revolution.

We were able to visit the Richard Arkwright Experience and see a working water wheel, we designed our own water wheels using Lego, and we got to experience some of the jobs that children would have done in the mills in Richard Arkwright's time.

Investigating the Past

As part of our topic 'Can the past power the future?' we have been investigating Richard Arkwright, as famous Derbyshire person in the 18th century, also known as the Father of the Industrial Revolution.

Wed used maps, timelines, portraits, quiz questions and even tried our hand at carding cotton to find out everything we could about him.
