Happy Children Inspired to Learn

Autumn term

This term our topic is “Are we all natural artists?” as part of this we will be focusing on using the great outdoors in art. We will be outside plenty this half term making our own natural art, learning about artists who use nature, and applying artistic skills to new contexts.

Please make sure your child has a warm coat for this topic as we will be outdoors as much as possible!

Wider Curriculum:

As scientists this term, we will be learning about forces; balanced and unbalanced forces, gravity, friction and the use of mechanisms such as levers, gears and pulleys. The children will identify forces and complete force diagrams. They will find out about Isaac Newton and his discoveries about gravity. Furthermore, they will work collaboratively to investigate air and water resistance, participating in challenges to design the best parachute and boat. Finally, they will find out about different mechanisms, including levers, gears and pulleys, and will design their own marvellous machine.

This term our computing topic is “We are Co-Authors.” In this sequence, the Hedgehogs will work collaboratively to develop a wiki web page all the artists we are focusing on in topic.

PE will be on a Wednesday with Mr. White where we will be focusing on invasion games. We may occasionally have extra PE sessions at various times so we suggest that PE kits are kept in school at all times.

Swimming will continue this term on a Monday, please make sure your child has their swimming costume and towel each week.
