The Matchbox Diary

We have been inspired by our Writing Roots work around the Matchbox Diary, to bring in own special objects.

Take a look at some of our objects and our feelings about why they are so special to us.

Alfie – Monster Truck Photo

Last week at Truckfest, where I stayed overnight, I went in a mini monster truck. This was my tenth time. The photo is special because it reminds me of having to climb in through the back, as there weren’t any doors. When I look at the photo it makes me happy. I wonder if I will be able to go again next year?

Evelyn – crystal gem

My brother found this in Matlock, about 3 months ago. It is special to me because it gives me memories of him when he is not with me. I keep it in my kitchen on a plate on the window, so it catches the light. It sparkles a little bit. I wonder how it ended up in a car park?

Joran – a conker

Yesterday, I found a conker on a tree near my house. I wanted to add it to my collection that I keep in my room. I play Conker War with my brother; it reminds me of having fun with him. Could this conker be the next star of Conker War?

Charlie – necklace from my teddy

When I was one year old, I got a teddy for my first birthday with my birthday money. It is special because as well as being my first birthday, it was also my first holiday. I keep it either in my hands or on the necklace. Maybe I could buy a teddy just like it for my children when I am older?

Lawson - a tiny squid

I got the squid when I was in the bath, and I was about 8 years old. I found it in a bath bomb! Since then I have kept it because it looks cool. It is a special item to me. I wonder what I will get from my next bath bomb?

Alexander - cat card

When I was seven I got a cat card picture. Since then I have kept it, because I wanted to keep the memory. Every time I look at it I feel happy because I got every pet on the card and achieved my goal.

Amelia - Matlock Bath Illuminations Badge

When I was the age of seven or eight, I went to the Matlock Bath Illuminations. The Illuminations are when people ride on boats with a massive statue that lights up. I wonder if I will go again?

Wonderful Wind Turbine Homework

Esmae has been busy at home creating these amazing Wind Turbines that she saw when she was at the seaside.

Thank you so much for bringing it in to share with us.
