Spring 2
The Digestive System
In Science, we have been learning all about the amazing digestive system. We have found out what happens to our food from the moment we eat it to the moment it exits our body at the the end of the process. Today we got practical and made our own version of the digestive system using bananas and wheatabix, with a little help from tights, tubes, bags and orange juice!

What Should We Flush?
As part of Science Week, we have been investigating what happens to different products when flush the loo! We were shocked at how long it can take different products to break down and how many of them release different chemicals into our sewers and waterways.
Did you know that every year people flushing the wrong things down the toilet cause 65,000 blockages!?
We concluded that we should only ever flush items that break up easily and that release minimal chemicals.
Eight Point Compass Directions
As part of our unit on map reading we have been learning how to use a compass with eight directions. We used a compass to draw an accurate diagram of a compass on the playground, and then we found out what we could see in each direction.

Science Week Live Lesson
We have really enjoyed taking part in the BBC Science week live lesson today, about life in space with Time Peake.
Here is what we thought of it:
Piper: I really liked the live lesson, finding out about space from Tim Peake.
Hasan: I found out about how they go to the toilet in space.
Poppy - When they keep fit they have to be careful to be held in place. They have to exercise to keep their bones strong.
Betsy: I enjoyed watching as we got to see a real-life British astronaut who was in space for 6 months. I was also surprised by how far away Mars is.
Investigating the oceans using VR
we have been lucky enough to experience life in the oceans using VR headsets today.
