Happy Children Inspired to Learn

Spring 2

Well done these 3! Always showing responsibility in abundance.

This week, in English, we have brought out our rainbow grammar cards to practice the use of linking adverbs to help us in our next independent right. In PE, we completed races on the wheelchair and I can really see that the children are becoming much more adapt to playing sports in the wheel chairs. In Science, we explored the complete journey of the digestive system and got really messy with the process, the children absolutely loved it. In design and technology, we began to make our final product, sewing the sides of our bags. We took our Math learning outside, getting active whilst learning really helps the brain to remember those facts.

Please celebrate our aspirational rabbits this week! Well done guys.

Week 4 in Rabbits class which means the start of a new English unit. We explored the structure of an explanation text and connected the learning in our Science lessons with our structure plans. We began to play some invasion games in wheel chair PE, which the Rabbits loved! In Geography, we revised the use of grid references and read map symbols of our local area. In Maths, we worked on our 6 times tables and practised mock times table checks to get used to the format. We also enjoyed an afternoon honing our sewing skills, practising running, over and zig zag stitching.

Week 3! This week we looked at all things Science. We enjoyed two live lessons on how to be an astronaut and how farming changes and adapts to continue to produce crops in a sustainable way. In English, we published our poems and created a fantastic class performance. In geography, we explored several types of maps and advanced our knowledge on the cardinal compass points to learn about the full eight points. We took our compasses out into our playground and plotted different things we could see at each compass point. In designing technology, we looked at reusing and recycling clothes to look after our planet and practice adding a patch and a button to material, I will add, a lot of resilience was required for this activity.

We have had a fantastic first two weeks of the second Spring half term. We have improved our fluency in maths, explaining how we know the answer to times tables, we have enjoyed a wonderful forest school session in the sunshine, making marshmallows and dens. In Science, we have looked at the effect different drinks have on our teeth and were shocked and amazed at what squash and vinegar did to the egg shells. It was also the start of British science week this week where we had a fantastic visit from The Education Group who delivered a virtual reality session for every class to take us deep into the ocean. We also enjoyed our PE lessons, which for the rest of the term, we will be exploring sports with the use of wheelchairs,
