Autumn 1

 

We will be following Maths No Problem again this year. This half term will focus on place value, rounding and numbers up to 1,000,000 to begin with. Once this has been consolidated, we will be moving on consolidating the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). Maths No Problem focuses mastering concepts by all. Children will be supported through resources and challenged to extend their understanding. 

 

At the beginning of every other lesson, the children will complete 10 questions in 10 minutes (10 in 10). These will focus on a variety of different skills. Some skills that the children will have learned in previous years, and others that will be recapped from our Year 5 learning. These 10 in 10s are aimed to increase children's fluency and speed with mental arithmetic. 

 

The children will be encouraged to practise these skills and they will have access to Times Tables Rockstars which will aid with the fluency and speed of their times tables.
