English:

Our reading focus this term is true or false questions. We will continue to develop the children’s skimming, scanning and close reading skills to help then locate specific information to help them answer the questions posed. Additionally, we will be focusing on how to provide evidence to support our opinions, ideas answer which we have inferred.  To begin our English topics this term we will be reading ‘Who Let the Gods Out' by Maz Evans as well as Greek Myths retold by Marcia Williams.

In writing, our focus will be reading, performing and writing our own poetry.  We will also be writing our own Greek myth after studying Theseus and the Minotaur.

For spelling, the children will look at five words per week focusing on the spelling pattern and meanings of the words.  The children are taught a range of ways to learn these spellings and encouraged to spell them correctly in their free writing.
