Autumn 1

Autumn 1, Week 7.

Well done to our certificate winners this week for showing confidence.

In art this week, we completed our watercolour masterpiece. They are amazing!

In Science, we carried out our investigation to see if people with bigger feet could jump furthest.

Our P.E this week consisted of a variety of races.

In History, we looked at a variety of photographs and discussed what they could be, where they might be from and what they could be used for. We made a connection that they all were linked to the Romans.

Autumn 1, week 6.

Congratulations to our certificate winners for showing resilience.

This week in P.E, we continued target throwing with a game of beanbag golf.

In our Rainbow Grammar lesson, we used direct speech.

We used the geographical data we collected last week, to create graphs showing the land use around our school.

We perfected watercolour trees, before adding these to our backgrounds in Art.

Autumn 1, week 5.

Congratulations to this week’s certificate winners for showing creativity.

We began to paint our watercolour backgrounds this week in Art. We drew in the horizon line, then used the skills we had practiced to create a sky and a colour wash bottom half.

Geography fieldwork this week took us in the school environment!

In P.E, we practiced throwing at a target, as we continued athletics.

We used some amazing adverbs this week during Rainbow Grammar sessions.

Our word of the week is ‘creep’. Maybe we can use this in our stories!

Autumn 1, week 4.

Congratulations to our responsibility certificate winners this week.

What an amazing day we had at Yorkshire Wildlife Park! We saw an array of animals and were lucky enough to handle some small animals.

In Art, we continued using watercolours. We explored how we could represent the sky and the clouds.

Our Geography this week involved using Digimaps to plot land use in Alfreton!

Drizzling is our word of the week! We’ve seen quite a lot of this recently. How many times can you use it?

Congratulations to our certificate winners in week 3 for showing pride.

We used different brushes and techniques to create many effects with watercolours.

In Science this week, we explored how muscles help us to move.

Our word of the week is ‘damp’. The weather certainly has been this lately.

Autumn 1, week 2.

Congratulations to our first certificate winners of this year for showing Aspiration.

Autumn 1 week 2 Geography. We used maps to compare the features of a village and a town.

In P.E. we continued using the gym equipment.

We used coordinating conjunctions in English. Our Rainbow Grammar sessions helped us perfect this.

We named and located the bones in our skeleton which protect our vital organs in Science.

Art this week involved exploring the effects of water on water colour paints. We also experimented with different colour washes.

Autumn 1, week 1.

Geography in our first week of the year! We learned about physical and human features.

In English, we learned to skim a text to find information quickly.

We had fun exploring the gym equipment.

We discovered different types of skeletons in science.

We began our project on watercolour in art.
