Summer Term 2
Week 6

Week 5 - Hedgehogs, we smashed it this week! Not only were we crowned the WINNERS of Sports Day but we have been working really hard in our end of year assessments. We've finished the week with some lovely calm art work, using the art techniques we learnt in the Autumn Term, stippling and hatching. Our perspective drawings were beautiful! Well done, Hedgehogs!

Week 4 - What an exciting week we've had. We have been writing our exciting and terrifying rescue storied, based on the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and the events that occured in Pompeii. The children loved writing these nearly as much as I loved reading them. In Maths we started it topic on negative numbers, linking it to temperatures and money. On Monday it was World Rainforest Day so we watched a fantastic online workshop from Chester Zoo, it was so interesting and we were so impressed with all the facts we had remembered since the Autumn Term.
Week 3 - we’ve had another exciting week in Hedgehogs. We’ve been learning about relative clauses and adverbial clauses in English. This will help us in our independent week next week. In geography we enjoyed using an atlas to locate the world’s mountains and facts about them. On Wednesday we went to David Neiper Academy four our enterprise day. We made pages for a diary and presented these to the judges. We’re waiting for their final decision.

Week 2 - We've had a very busy week this week in Hedgehogs. In maths we have been learning how to add and subtract decimals across 1. In English we've been expanding our vocabulary, using word mats to describe the city of Pompeii before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and afterwards. This will help us describe the setting in our stories. In art we've been looking at famous architects and have been analysing their work. We have also enjoyed playing rounders in PE. It's been great fun and we have been so motivated in all lessons.

Our Creativity value of the week award winners. 6.6.25
Week 1 - we’ve had a great first week back. We’ve hit the ground running, completing our unit of position and direction in Maths, by reflecting and translating shapes on a grid. In computing, we are learning how to use Scratch to create a maze game, learning how to use different conditions in our algorithms. This term we are learning all about natural disasters so we looked at some pieces of artwork, showing these, and annotated them with our viewpoints. It was great hearing the difference of opinions.
