Spring 2 Foundation Subjects
This half term, Year 4 are answering the question 'How do you keep healthy?'. In Design and Technology, we will be learning about seasonality in foods and how we can use this to create a healthy and sustainable diet. This will link to our Geography learning, in which we will discover where some of our foods come from through map work, 8-points of a compass and 4-figure grid references. We will also learn about the water cycle and rivers in Geography.
In Science, we are learning about the parts and functions of the human digestive system, including teeth. Later in the half term, we will be learning about food chains.
Spring 1 Foundation Subjects
This half term we are learning about the Ancient Greeks and how they have influenced the way we live today. Through History, Geography and DT, we will look at the foods they ate, democracy, their beliefs and how they inspired the Olympic games.
Science:
This term we will be learning about Living Things. We will:
- recognise that living things can be grouped in a variety of ways
- explore and use classification keys to help group, identify and name a variety of living things in their local and wider environment
- recognise that environments can change and that this can sometimes pose dangers to living things.
