Happy Children Inspired to Learn

Autumn 1

Well done to our confidence winners this week. We love to see you grow as people and become more and more confident as the year goes on. And well done Alex for showing your resilience last week!

Last week of our first half term! Even though everyone has been cream cracker end, everyone has remained smiling and have tried their best in all our lessons. We have started our multiplication chapter in Maths and used multi link cubes to help us spot patterns. In Geography, we learned how to use Excel to present geographical data and in History we began our exploration of the Romans. We researched 6 innovations the Romans brought to the UK and presented our findings to the class.

Well done foxes for showing how resilient you have been in school!

W.C 16.10.2023 This week we have evaluated bug houses, explored how to use inverted commas in English, been on a scavenger hunt of school to see our network system in action. We finalised the detail on our watercolour paintings and ended the week carrying out our science experiment. We had to accurately measure and record the distance each child could jump and assessed if children with bigger feet could jump further than those with smaller feet. Ask your 🦊 for details of our findings 😊.

Here are this weeks amazing creative 🦊 winning their 🌟 certificates.

WC 9.10.2023 This week we have looked at a nature colour palette, explored the land use of our local area using Digimaps and compared the land use of the same area 140 years ago. We ended on a high celebrating our school’s 70th birthday! We spent the day in 1950s style exploring the music, a radio PE lesson, decorated cupcakes and made some 1950s inspired abstract art!

W.C 2.10.23 another amazing week with the 🦊. We started the week delivering our speeches to the class, practicing our practice skills. We got wild in Forest School! A much loved slot in our timetable. We ended the week with a relaxing watercolour art afternoon, creating the washes in preparation for adding the detailing next week,

W.c 25.9.23 this week we have celebrated languages week, with guest visits from some really talented parents teaching us some of their home languages. We had a wonderful art afternoon practicing our water colour skills in preparation for the creation of our own master piece. We ended the week on an absolute high, visiting the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. We got to meet some creatures and observe so many wonderful animals! The children really did Woodbridge proud with their respectful behaviour too!

Let's celebrate our Woodbridge Star award winners this week! These 3 showed bucket loads of pride this week, in their work books, their attitude and in themselves. Well done!

Week 2 at Woodbridge. We had our first lesson using our fantastic Rainbow Grammar cards, these really support and structure the childrens' learning of sentence composition. We continued our Science journey and looked at muscles, how they work and attach to our skeleton. In Geography we developed our understanding of geographical features and used Digimaps to explore the features of the village of Swanwick. We ended the week on a relaxing note, exploring the work of Iain Mackay and creating our own mood boards.

Well done to these 3 absolutely wonderful foxes for showing an abundance of aspiration during their first week at Woodbridge!

Week 1 and a half! Wow what a tremendous start to the new school year we have had. The Foxes have settled in so well and have exceeded my expectations with their enthusiasm for learning. Over the first week and a half, we had our first turn on our fantastic new out door gym, we took our geography lesson outside and explored the features of our school. In English we began our new writing genre of non-chronological reports and in Science we found out what our skeleton was actually for!
