David Taylor Chair of Governors
I was born and educated in Alfreton including Woodbridge Junior School. Later as a mature student I studied for a degree in English and Drama followed by an MA in Scriptwriting. Most of my career has been in education, firstly as a Lecturer and then as Manager and Head of Widening Participation teams working in universities and liaising with schools and colleges. Throughout my career I have worked on initiatives to raise aspirations and life chances for young people through educational and creative arts opportunities. Later I owned a community arts café and I have written two plays which were professionally produced.
Within my role as Chair of Governors, my main responsibilities are Equality and Diversity and Standards Overview (national expectations for schools).
I live in Alfreton with my partner and our two boys. I am also an Alfreton Town Councillor. In my spare time I enjoy writing, walking my dogs, gardening and family holidays.
I enjoy supporting the Woodbridge community and support the school to achieve great educational opportunities for all the children.
