Summer 1

Summer 2, Week 5. In English, the class has been exploring free verse poems. They identified writing features within every verse poem and were able to explain which features are not appropriate for a free verse poem.

Summer 2, Week 4. In Art, the Foxes explored a variety of art mediums experimenting with different materials to understand their effects. Using careful observations, they recreated marks from Van Gogh’s work.

Summer 2, Week 4. This week in science, the class explored how shadows change in size and shape. They made careful observations and identify patterns in the way shadows change, depending on the position of the light source through hands-on investigation, they deepen their understanding of light and shadow.

Summer 2, Week 4. This week, the Foxes prepared for sports day during their P.E lesson. They practice the activities, they might take part in showing great enthusiasm and energy. Everyone was fully engaged and gave the best effort throughout the session.

Summer 2, Week 4. This week, we took our learning outside to draw inspiration from our surroundings, just as Van Gogh did. We reflected on how he painted what he saw, and use careful, observation to support and improve our own sketching techniques.

Summer 2, Week 4. The Foxes used Rainbow Grammar cards to identify words classes and key sentence features in their writing. They applied this knowledge to construct their own sentences and successfully created three predicate sentences, demonstrating a growing understanding of sentence construction.

Summer 2, Week 3. This week in Science, The class investigated how shadows are formed by creating their own using different light sources. They explored how the position and distance of an object from the light affects the size and shape of the shadow. This hands-on activity helped them understand the relationship between light objects and shadow formation.

Summer 2, Week 2. Foxes had a great time in P.E this week as they learned the rules of rounders. They took turns playing as both batters and fielders, developing their skills and teamwork.

Summer 2, Week 1. The class explored the artwork of Van Gogh, engaging in thoughtful discussions and evaluating his style and techniques. They then confidently presented their evaluations.

Summer 2, Week 1. In Computing, Foxes learned how to move a sprite within an existing project. They explored the connection between events and actions, choosing specific keys to control the sprite’s movements and explained their reasons behind their choices.

In Art, the class explored layering techniques using chalk pastels to create texture and depth in their work. They also learned how to draw one-point perspective by creating images of railway tracks that appear to get smaller as they move into the distance.

Summer 1, Week 5. This week in Computing, the children used desktop publishing software to create magazine covers about gaming.

Summer 1, Week 5. In History, the class explored artefacts and made connections to real-life objects to suggest possible uses.

Summer 1, Week 4. In Computing this week, Foxes explored magazines to understand the key features of an effective cover. They then applied this understanding, they designed their own magazine cover focused on technology. During this process, they developed their understanding of page orientation, layout design, and how to use placeholders for images and text.

Summer 1, Week 4. Foxes had an exciting afternoon this week bringing their seed bomb plans to life. They worked brilliantly within their teams, carefully identifying the materials and tools they needed. Each group followed their plan step by step with accuracy, showing understanding of why planning is important. As a result, they produced some fantastic finished products!

Summer 1, Week 4. Foxes demonstrated their impressive skills this week, showing control of the ball and accuracy and timing with each hit.

Summer 1, Week 4. In Foxes this week, we took our learning outside. We explored different versions of events related to mining, focusing on the differing views people had about the Mining Act 1842. The Foxes compared the different perspectives, discussing why their views might differ and deciding who they agree with.

Summer 1, Week 3. The Foxes thoroughly enjoyed their extra Forest School session this week.

Summer 1, Week 2. In English, Foxes had 30 seconds to quickly bounce as many precise nouns as they could back and forth.

Summer 1, Week 2. In Science, Foxes teamed up to carefully dissect a lily, identifying each part of the flower and discovering its function.

Summer 1, Week 2. In Computing, Foxes learned how text and layout can be edited. They used desktop publishing tools to design their own party invitations using given information, showing creativity and attention to detail.

Summer 1, Week 2. This term, Foxes have been getting active and having fun as they learn the basics of tennis. This week, they have been practising underarm throws to prepare for serving, and learning how to hit the ball with control and accuracy. They’ve shown great enthusiasm and teamwork on the court.

Summer 1, Week 2. In Geography, the class explored food distribution. Using iPads, they investigated where different foods came from, how far they had travelled, and the different methods of transportation used.

Summer 1, Week 2. In DT, Foxes collaborated to develop and plan their seed bomb designs. They worked as a team and confidently presented their ideas to the whole class.

Summer 1, Week 1. In computing, Foxes have been learning to recognise how text and images communicate information. They were able to explain the difference between text and images, and had a discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of both.
