Music Monday: Live Streams | A free music and wellbeing lesson for your school

Join hundreds of other primary schools for a free wellbeing boosting music lesson this Monday
We’d like to invite you and the children to an in-school, live music lesson, for the next two weeks. Created for the primary schools that Rocksteady Music School supports across the UK, we wanted to let children in all schools experience the wellbeing benefits of music when they need it the most.
What happens in the lesson?
Music Monday Live Streams for schools take place on Monday 13th and 20th July from 1.30-2pm. Lessons focus on a number of elements of the music curriculum, for instance rhythm, melodies, listening skills, learning about instruments and how they all relate to each other in rock and pop music. There are performances by Rocksteady Band Leader Paul. Although the Government’s guidance allows for singing in groups of 15 or less from the Autumn, for now we will sing and encourage the children to join in by clapping, movement and body percussion throughout.

How to get involved
It’s easy. Simply visit the Live Stream on our YouTube channel, at 1:25pm, ready for a 1.30pm start,
Don’t worry, if you miss the Live Stream, the same link will work on catch up, to enjoy with the children whenever you like. Plus, the last lesson is still accessible here.
We really hope your children and staff enjoy joining the Live Streams and it puts a smile on their faces. If you need help or have any questions, please email
The Rocksteady Team

PS. If you would like access to our free wellbeing pack for schools which includes a catchy ‘Bounce Back’ song as a digital Wellbeing Music Assembly and The Handwashing Song, simply enter your details here

I am very impressed with the BBC Bitesize Ks2 music page. I have uploaded the link below. We are very lucky to have YUMU, but I thought it would be nice to explore other options too. There are lots of brilliant videos and lessons on this page, for you to explore and learn from. I hope you enjoy looking through.

Classics for Kids

Another great website for you to explore is classics for kids. There is so much for you to do. You can learn all about different composers, then you can take online quizzes to test your knowledge. There are other interactive games and activities too, my favourite is the compose your own music activity. Look at the pictures and the link below, to see how you can access it.

Select Music from the top bar menu.
Then click compose your own music.
Follow the instructions to start composing.

YUMU Times Table Songs

Welcome back to Summer 2. Over the half term break, YUMU released some more music packages, including this amazing set of times table songs. We love to sing our times tables, so I thought you would all really enjoy this package. Singing is a fantastic way to embed information, so not only do you get to feel great by singing, you also learn all of those times tables too.
